Friction Discs: The friction material is formulated and compressed to state-of-the-art specifications. The steel carrier is manufactured in flat sheets rather than rolls to avoid the warp set that is retained in rolled steel stock. This starts the process with flatter steel and helps maintain closer tolerances. Surface ground after bonding and curing to hold the tightest tolerances and introduce proper surface porosity designed to give maximum performance. (Many manufacturers do not take this step. Their product has a slick surface tension similar to a glazed lining that inhibits the transfer of oil and heat. This is a first generation design!) Grooves machined with diamond tooling for sharp consistent channels arranged for maximum oil flow capability. Outer edges chamfered to reduce risk of damage to material in handling. 100 % inspected. Steel Plates: The steel is SAE/AISI 1074 specification steel that is at the very top end of the specifications. This is best suited for even heat dissipation and ability to transfer high torque loads without warping or deforming. Manufactured in sheets to eliminate the warp set that is retained in rolled steel products. These are substantially flatter with closer tolerances Cold stamped then surface ground to proper finish and thickness. 100% inspected
Dampers: The cork composite material used in our dampers is the same second-generation material used by the OEM and is purchased from the same source. The damper material is impregnated with the same Caterpillar approved additive that enhances the overall life of the material. Cork is cut into equal arced segments and undergoes a bond and compression process that assures the desired durometer hardness and even distribution of density. Bonded and cured dampers are surface ground to surpass standard specifications 100% inspected. No other aftermarket supplier offers this second generation design.
